Installing Nucleuz DLP Policies

  • Microsoft Office 365 (O365)
  • Microsoft Exchange Online
  • Microsoft Exchange (on-prem)

These instructions will help guide you through the installation of Nucleuz's DLP Policies in Microsoft Office 365 (O365) or Microsoft Exchange Online.

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites are needed before installation:

  • Nucleuz DLP Rule Pack
    If your DLP Package contains one or more DLP Sensitive Types Rule Pack files, install them first using these installation instructions.
    The DLP Sensitive Types Rule Packs must be installed before installing the DLP Policy.
  • Nucleuz's DLP Policy
    This is provided by Nucleuz. Contact Nucleuz if you do not have it.
  • A user account assigned at least one of these role groups, an equivalent custom role group, or an equivalent management role:
    • Compliance Management
    • Organization Management

Installation via the Office 365 Security & Compliance Center User Interface

Install Nucleuz DLP Policy in the Security & Compliance Center for Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, and/or Teams.

  1. Extract the contents of the DLP Package archive onto a computer with access to your Office 365 Security & Compliance Center.

    NOTE:

    If your DLP Package archive contains one or more DLP Sensitive Types Rule Pack files, install them first using these installation instructions.

  2. Sign into the Office 365 Security & Compliance Center with a user having the permissions specified in the Prerequisites above.

    In the Office 365 Security & Compliance Center:

    1. Navigate to the Data loss prevention Policy page from the left-hand side
    2. Select Create a policy

  4. Nucleuz will guide you through the rest of the steps of the installation of your DLP Policy inline with your licensing and on-boarding specification.

Installation via the Exchange Admin Center User Interface

Note: Installing the Nucleuz DLP Policy into Exchange is now used for advanced installations and should only be done if directed by Nucleuz. Most deployments are done in Security & Compliance Center.

  1. Extract the contents of the DLP Package archive onto a computer with access to your O365 or On-prem Exchange Admin Center.

  2. Locate the DLP Policy Template file.

    The DLP Policy filename typically starts with "Nucleuz" and ends with "DlpPolicyTemplate.xml".

    For example, Nucleuz_Contoso_PII_DlpPolicyTemplate.xml.

    NOTE:

    If your DLP Package archive contains one or more DLP Sensitive Types Rule Pack files, install them first using these installation instructions.

    NOTE:

    If your DLP Package archive contains multiple DLP Policy files, repeat the following steps for each such file.

  3. Sign into the Exchange Admin Center with a user who has the permissions specified in the Prerequisites above.

    In the Exchange Admin Center:

    1. Navigate to the compliance management section from the left-hand side
    2. Navigate to the data loss prevention section near the top
    3. Drop down the Policy addition button and select Import DLP policy

    In the Import DLP Policy screen:

    1. Select the DLP Policy file
    2. Provide a name for the new policy that will be created
    3. Optionally specify a description of the policy
    4. Click the import button

  6. Refresh the list of DLP Policies
